Candidate and ballot measure data

Ballotpedia will provide newsrooms with access to structured data about elections in the state(s) they cover. This data is updated daily, and will be available via CSV files accessed via Ballotpedia's client portal.

Newsrooms will have access to the following data (compiled by state):

  • Federal level: all candidates and elections in the U.S. (President, Congress)
  • State level: all candidates and elections in the U.S. (statewide offices, state courts, state legislatures), and all statewide ballot measures in the U.S.
  • Local/municipal level: all candidates and elections in or overlapping one of the top 100 cities by population, as well as some additional local elections; notable local ballot measures across the country, as determined by Ballotpedia staff.

What you should know: This is a limited resource. Any eligible newsroom can apply.
