Princeton's Bridging Divides Initiative: De-escalation Resources

The Bridging Divides Initiative

Use BDI’s interactive state-by-state De-escalation Directory to find de-escalation, community safety, and bystander resources and training programs around the country. This curated directory currently brings together more than 120 local and national training organizations and individual trainers with an easy-to-use interface that allows stakeholders to identify trainers in their community, as well as a set of specialized guides tailored to key leadership roles like election officials. The tools and strategies these resources provide can equip users with the skills they need to peacefully navigate and resolve conflict at public gatherings from polls to protests this election season. The directory can be helpful to newsrooms looking to access relevant trainings for their own use, as well as to elevate and incorporate local community resources and cases of successful de-escalation efforts into coverage of political violence risk.

About our organization: BDI is a non-partisan research initiative that tracks and mitigates political violence in the United States.

How we can help you cover the 2024 elections: We are available to make connections and recommendations for relevant trainings, as well as to provide briefings or other guidance as to the effective application of de-escalation programs during periods of heightened political violence risk.
