From: Ava Sasani
To Whom It May Concern:
Pursuant to the Nevada Public Records Act, I hereby request the following records:
Documents dated between January 2018 and July 2019 about your office’s evaluation of the effectiveness of the your Department of Homeland Security (DHS) grant to Counter Violent Extremism (CVE), specifically your assessment of the effectiveness of the Southern Nevada Community Resiliency and Intervention Coalition.
This organization was listed as by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) as a CVE grant recipient here:
https://www.dhs.gov/cvegrants
https://www.dhs.gov/publication/cve-grants-awarded
On the DHS web page listed above, your grant application to the DHS is listed. In this grant application, you have said that your organization will (on p.17 of the grant application):
“The specific activities proposed are: 1-Creating a community led, culturally competent, and interdisciplinary coalition to develop and administer an intervention program for community members at risk of recruitment to violent extremism; 2-Developing and implementing community based and culturally competent case management services; and 3-Developing assessment tools designed to track the progress of community members who receive services as part of the intervention program to determine the efficacy of the program.”
I would like all documents submitted to the DHS specifically about funding goal 3 “: Provide Technical Assistance in the Development and Validation of Assessment Tools” (p.21):
This would include an explanation of the “qualitative and quantitative evidence” that the assessment tools used to measure the impact of the Southern Nevada Community Resiliency and Intervention Coalition.
Should you have any questions or concerns about my request, I am willing to discuss and clarify over the phone. Please feel free to reach me at 781-941-0829.
The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.
In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 5 business days, as the statute requires.
Sincerely,
Ava Sasani
