From: General Services Administration

Good afternoon - Per our 3/15/2019 conference call, I informed you that
GSA-2019-000382 was closed and a new request was opened in its place;
GSA-2019-000789. With that said, in response to your status request, due
to the backlog of a large volume of email data pull requests the GSA FOIA
Office has received this year, your email data pull request was not
completed (pulled and converted) until 5/23/2019, at which time it was
provided to the SME. According to the Subject Matter Expert (SME) working
on your request, they are in the process of reviewing the large number of
emails resulting from the email data pull. Please understand, reviewing
and coordinating large email data pulls are time-consuming. First, our IT
Office must perform the email data pull and than convert the results of the
pull into a user-friendly format (i.e. pdf). Next, the SME must review the
emails resulting from the pull to ensure they are responsive to your
request. After the initial review and if there are documents responsive to
your request, the SME will review and when necessary, redact information
that is considered Personally identifiable information (PII),
pre-decisional, attorney-client privilege, etc. Once the SME has completed
this part of the process, the responsive package must be coordinated for
final approval prior to release. Due to the voluminous nature of your
email data pull as well as a backlog of other large and voluminous data
pulls currently being worked by this Office/Division, we anticipate it will
take an additional 3 months to complete the review and coordination.

We will continue to do our due diligence to complete your request as
quickly as possible and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you.

Thank you and have a nice day.

Good morning - As I stated in my 6/19/2019 email, FOIA # GSA-2019-000382
was replaced with GSA-2019-000789. For future status requests, please
reference FOIA # GSA-2019-000789.

In response to your status request, according to the SME working your
request, due to turnover in their Office, the review of your data pull
results was assigned to another SME. This new SME is currently in the
process of reviewing the large number of emails resulting from your email
data pull. Please understand, reviewing and coordinating large email data
pulls are time-consuming. First, our IT Office must perform the email data
pull and than convert the results of the pull into a user-friendly format
(i.e. pdf). Next, the SME must review the emails resulting from the pull to
ensure they are responsive to your request. After the initial review and if
there are documents responsive to your request, the SME will review and
when necessary, redact information that is considered Personally
identifiable information (PII), pre-decisional, attorney-client privilege,
etc. Once the SME has completed this part of the process, the responsive
package must be coordinated for final approval prior to release. Due to the
voluminous nature of your email data pull as well as a backlog of other
large and voluminous data pulls currently being worked by this
Office/Division, we anticipate it will take at least another 3 months to
complete the review. Anticipated completion of the review phase is late
October 2019.

We will continue to do our due diligence to complete your request as quickly
as possible and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you.

Thank you and have a nice day.
