To Whom It May Concern:

Pursuant to the Colorado Open Records Act, I hereby request the following records:

All records of traffic stops in Routt County for the past 10 years. At a minimum please include the following information:

Date and time of stop
Officer Name
Officer Badge Number
Vehicle Make
Vehicle Year
Driver Sex
Driver Age
Driver Race
Reason for Stop
Location

If additional information is available please include it as well.
If possible, I would like to receive the data in a standard machine readable form such as a CSV or database dump.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 3 business days, as the statute requires.

Good morning,

Your request for traffic stops in Routt County has been received and filled. Please note that the ONLY records Routt County Sheriff's Office can release are those for the Sheriff's Office. This does not include other jurisdictions such as any city limits within the county, or any records held by Colorado State Patrol.
That being said, our records management system is able to produce the attached reports only. "The Colorado Supreme Court held that custodians of computerized public records need not manipulate data in order to create a new record upon request of a member of the public." (994P.2d 420)
There will be a difference in the total citations demographics (3795) and the total number of traffic citations issued as our citation table is for more than just traffic citations. Our system goes back to 2012 so this will only be for the past 8 years. Also, our system does not have demographics for traffic warnings.
I am returning your check # 10153 for $134.32 today. Thank you.
